Defining the Problem
Design Brief
The first step of any project is to write up the design brief. The Design brief describes our problem and how we are going to solve said problem. It also list the Constraints of our solution. Since I am working with Emma Leo, her name is written on the design brief. She wrote it beforehand and didn't save it so my name isn't on it.

Team Norms
Emma and i have a lot to do so to get things done faster we divided the responsibilities. We both decided to do research but Emma did the bulk of the research. Also she had already done the design brief. I was in charge of creating sketches as you will see later on the page. We both worked on the decision matrix.

Research
There have been many different kinds of happy meal toys over the years but they all have somethings in common. McDonalds happy meal toys are generally small and safe for children. Many of their toys also involve electronics, puzzles, and other interactive things.
Brainstorming
For brainstorming we really didn't do much. we were pretty set on creating the couch and we just added the people as we went on.
Sketches
|
From the start we were pretty sure we wanted to make the couch but I had also made a few other sketches as we brainstormed. |
Decision Matrix #1
Then we made a decision matrix to decide what our base design was going to be. We decided on making the couch because we have a bunch of ideas on how to make it cool and fun.
Decision matrix #2
Then we made a decision matrix for the couch as well to decide what features the couch would have. we decided on giving it eyes since it was the best option.
Construct and Test Prototypes
Parts
Once we had decided on what we were going to do we began creating the parts in Inventor Pro.
Couch- The couch was fairly simple to build at first , it was just a bunch of rectangular prisms. Then i had to add the arms and the back and fillet almost every single edge.
Cushion- The cushions were incredibly simple to make. All i had to do was make a flat box and fillet the edges, i also had the create the extrusion on the bottom so that'll go into the couch.
Eyes- The eyes were a little tricky; trying to get the right fillet on the eyes. but other than the fillet it was very easy and quick.
Person- Emma was in charge of creating the person. as far as i could tell it is extremely complex and was difficult to build.

Evaluate
I liked this project a lot. It was fun working with Emma since we were able to get things done quickly and without many problems. I think our toy we made is pretty cool. although it doesn't do a whole lot i think kids will like its cool color schemes and smoothness and would like playing with the robots
This went very well and surprisingly we didn't have a ton of issues making the toys in inventor.
